UES Building Services had an urgent project at Easton CE Academy in July 2019. UES was appointed as the mechanical contractor and was required to refit the Academy’s heating mains with hot and cold services throughout the building.
The Academy had suffered a leak resulting in £250,000 worth of damage which required a massive overhaul during the 6-week summer holidays. Under normal circumstances, the work that needed to be undertaken would have taken around 16 weeks. Completing the work within such a short time meant that the appointed contractors, equipment, and every resource had to be quickly arranged, efficiently delivered, and affordable. Whilst the parameters for the work were already narrow, the contractors were facing a busy time with other jobs on the go, and they also had to comply with a ‘no hot works’ policy at the Academy.
The work at Eastern Academy required more than 1,500 meters of piping and hundreds of fittings, ranging from 16mm to 63mm. The flexibility of Aquatechnik’s innovative Safety system ensured UES could even carry out further work requested by the Academy. These included fitting new radiators and outlets to not only repair their pipe system but also modernise and improve it, safeguarding the Academy’s functions for the future whilst remaining within that tight 6-week time frame.
During the repairs, not a single leak was reported to have occurred and the Academy have praised all parties involved. Tom Bishop, a surveyor, stated, “I just wanted to thank you for all the work at Easton this summer. The team have been excellent in delivering a huge project in a very short space of time.”
