  1. Ensure that the fittings remain in the original packaging, or the SBS-supplied delivery packaging, right up to the point of installation to prevent the WRAS approved seals from being contaminated.

  1. Cut the Multilayer pipe, preferably with sharp hand shears or a wheel-type tube cutter that produce no debris, keeps the tube end square, and produces minimal tube end burrs.

  1. Unbag the MLCP fitting and remove the fitting cap-nut.

  1. Insert the cut tube through the cap nut (This cannot be done after flaring)

  1. Hold the cut tube-end firmly onto the correct size of flaring head and pull the machine trigger until the flaring process is complete.

  1. Push the flared tube end onto the MLCP fitting and tighten the cap nut by hand until it clicks onto the locking mechanism. Special MLCP wrench available for all sizes should hand tightening not be possible.

  1. Test the system following the BESA TR6 ‘Guide to Best Practice’ for Site Pressure Testing of Pipework.

Flaring Machine Maintenance – Aquatechnik BST32

  1. Ensure the flaring-head expanding-elastomers are kept free from external grease so they can grip the tube wall during flaring.

  1. Heat up the elastomers in hot water, to improve their elasticity, if they have become cold overnight or not used for a long time.
